Here’s What’s Happening Around the Neighborhood this Month

AquaFit Class at the Village Pool Tuesdays & Thursdays at 6pm 

Join your neighbors at the Village Pool for AquaFit classes.  You can knock out your cardio AND strength training all at once!  We meet on Tuesdays & Thursdays at 6pm at the Village Pool.  Recommended (but not necessary) items include a pool noodle, foam dumbbells, aqua gloves & aqua sneakers.  And of course plenty of water to rehydrate!!  Please text Jen at 803-800-9189 with any questions.

Monday 6/17 Adult Board Game Night at the Village Club 7pm
Like to play board games?  Join your neighbors at the Village Club for an evening of playing board games.  Contact Anne Mellen at annemellen@yahoo.com for any questions.

Monday 6/17 – Thursday 6/20 Sports Galore Camp (ages 5-12)  
Activities include volleyball with beach balls, balloon tennis, noodle hockey, bowling, soccer, basketball, and much more.  Each camp will meet both on the Riverfront and inside the Chickawa Outdoor Center.  The cost for each camp is $70/child/week.  All campers must be potty trained.  Each camp is Monday-Thursday 9am-12pm.  Kids are to bring a snack and a water bottle every day.

Tuesday 6/18 Ladies Bunco at the Village Club 7pm
Come for a night of fun with the ladies of SRC who get together on the 3rd Tuesday of every month to play bunco.  We start arriving @ 7pm and play till 8:30.  Bring $5 for the winners pot……never played, don’t worry, there are a few veterans to teach the rules and get the games started.  For information you can contact Pat Cronin @ 803-521-9138 or Jean Dyson @ 803-429-2349.

Wednesdays 6/19, 26 Men’s Bible Study at the Village Club 6:30-8pm
Men’s Bible Study will not meet July 3rd.
The study is for all levels of Christians and specifically for anyone who wants to learn, no matter his knowledge base or spiritual situation.  New Christians and searchers are especially welcome.  This will be non denominational in format with special attention paid to differences in theology, if necessary.  The classes will be as intense as the class desires.  The goal is to grow in Christ.  If interested, please contact Eldon or Mike, or just show up. Thursday 5/20 Men’s Night POKER GAME at the Village Club 7pm 
POKER GAME!!!  Lose a few old presidents & win some new friends.  Low stakes, High fun.  No experience preferred.  Men’s Night is the Third Thursday of every month. Bring your favorite beverage and a snack.

Friday 6/21 Boomers & Beyond Social at the Village Club 5:30pm
Boomers (both singles and couples over 50) meet at the Village Clubhouse the third Friday of each month at 5:30pm.  Bring an appetizer to share and the beverage of your choice. If you would like to play left, right, center, bring three one dollar bills per person.

Sundays 6/23, 30 Ladies Bible Study at the Village Club 6:30-8pm
Please join us for our Bible Study at the Village Club on Sunday nights.

Tuesday 6/25 Book Club at the Village Club 7:30pm
The Book Club will be reading for June, “And Then There Were None” by Agatha Christie.

July 29-Aug 1 Beach Camp (ages 5-12)
Activities include bocce ball, corn toss, frisbee, beach tennis, flip cup, ladder golf, washer boards, beach ball volleyball, and pool games.

Coming in July:

Thursday 7/4 – 1st Annual July 4th – 5K – Starts at 7:30am
If you would be interested in participating in a July 4th 5k run/walk in the SRC.  Please text April Donley directly for  registration details 803-507-2583 . We need 20 people to be any official race.

Details:
Date: July 4th
Start time: 7:30am
Cost: $20 (includes a  finisher medal and race bib)
Deadline to register Tuesday – June 11th

Note: Only paid racers will receive a bib and medal but everyone is welcome to participateThursday- 7/4 Water Balloon Fight at the Ball Fields 10:00am (immediately following the 5K)
Please join us for a lot of family and Fun to kick off  a fabulous Fourth of July weekend!!  We will have three different fights (first one starts at 10:00am)
Top soccer field area for kids 3 and under, then children 3 and 5, and finally an 6 and up and  ADULTS  fight to wrap it up in biggest area.  Please plan to bring your own balloons.  We will wrap up with POPSCILES and drinks for kiddos will be provided while we all clean up!!

July 4th – Parade – 11am – we are looking for someone to coordinate this years parade if you are interested please let us know.

Thursday 7/4 –  Slide your way into the July 4th – 12pm (following the parade)
Please join us at noon in the soccer fields to continue to enjoy the day with water slides, water guns, and slip & slides throughout the day until 9pm.  Note all sliders will be required to sign a waiver.

Tents, Chairs, and appetizers are welcome as you hang out.

Additional Help Needed: We are looking for someone to coordinate the 2nd Annual SRC July 4th Ping Pong Tournament. If you are interested please let us know.

Community Involvement:
Rotary Meetings – Do you know Rotary?  This civic organization has impacts both worldwide and right here in Lexington!  Feel free to come and join us every Friday morning at 7:30 am at the Holiday Inn on 378 and I-26 (across from Lexington Medical).  We have local speakers, a great fellowship and breakfast is on the house to guest!  Contact Angela Leon @ 803-407-6262 for more information.
