There was an exciting rescue at Saluda River Club last week! Our own Lifestyle Director, Kara Powell, made a heroic save of an injured heron found on the Saluda River Club deck.

The heron had an injured wing, so Kara kicked off her heels, grabbed a towel, some gloves and a large IKEA bag to make the rescue. She bravely scooped up the injured bird to protect it from possibly drowning in the river.

The heron was taken to the Carolina Wildlife shelter across the river on Bush River Road for treatment. The center may need to send him to waterfowl specialists in Charlotte, however the heron is in capable hands thanks to Kara’s quick and attentive care. This just proves she will do anything to help ALL residents of the Saluda River Club!

Below is a photo of the rescue as well as the heron comfortably resting in the IKEA bag. Thanks Kara for taking such great care of our feathered friend!
