When Andy White, developer of Saluda River Club, first got the idea for The Vineyard, a brand-new neighborhood within the master-planned community inspired by the casual elegance of California’s Napa Valley wine region, he had no idea the new design aesthetic would be such a hit. White envisioned a rustic meets regal look for the collection of farmhouse style homes and planned the neighborhood’s design as an ode to South Carolina’s natural landscape and the lifestyle that embraces it. The question was, would South Carolina homebuyers feel the new concept worked for them?

Everyone waited breathlessly for the first model home to open. “How,” they wondered, “would visitors feel about the new look?” It didn’t take long for real estate agents and home buyers to tell Andy he was right on target. The beautiful new neighborhood generated immediate interest with home buyers and 17 homes were sold in just over 30 days following the opening of The Vineyard’s model home. Buyers cited home features such as seamlessly integrated indoor and outdoor spaces, open floor plans, optional courtyard pools, and folding glass walls between the living spaces and the courtyard which allow the homeowners to vary the home’s flow, light, and function, as key selling points. They also liked that each home site is capable of accommodating an optional detached casita that can be used in a variety of ways, including a guest house or home office.

While public approval is always great, sometimes it’s nice to have accolades from your peers, and the recent Pinnacle Award from the Home Builders Association of South Carolina for “Best New Community/Subdivision” does just that. The Pinnacle Awards recognize the craftsmanship of the best home builders and remodelers across South Carolina, and 30 Pinnacle Awards were given in five categories.  Saluda River Club won in the “Best Subdivision” category.

The Pinnacle Awards are the most prestigious awards given by the Home Builders Association of South Carolina.  They were created to honor those in the home building industry who have achieved the highest standard of quality craftsmanship, innovative problem solving and customer satisfaction.  The annual competition focuses attention on the best builders and communities in South Carolina and challenges the association’s membership to greater levels of achievement.

“My team and I are extremely gratified to have won the Pinnacle Award for ‘Best New Community/Subdivision’ from the South Carolina Home Builders Association,” Andy said recently.  “It’s always especially meaningful to win an award from professional peers who understand our business and appreciate the beauty, quality construction and appealing lifestyle that are hallmarks of life at Saluda River Club.”

Saluda River Club is a 235-acre master-planned community.  Over the years, White and his team have continued to innovate, anticipating the changing demographics and desires of homebuyers, and providing floor plans, styles and features to meet those needs by designing various neighborhoods within the community.  Saluda River Club is located in Lexington’s top-rated public-school district, just minutes away from major business, medical, academic and entertainment centers in downtown Columbia, S.C.  The award-winning community is known for its resort-style amenities, which include the Chickawa Outdoor Center, Village Clubhouse, outdoor playground, river access, two outdoor pools, fitness center, walking trail, dog park, community gardens, riverside observation deck, a village green, outdoor amphitheater, recreation area and much more.
