Ladies Meet and Greet is the second Thursday of every month. Bring your favorite beverage, a small snack to share, and mingle with your neighbors!

Thursday 11/16 Boomers & Beyond Oyster Roast on The Riverfront 6pm
Calling all Boomers & Beyond (both singles and couples over 50)!  Join your neighbors on The Riverfront at 6pm for an Oyster Roast.  Whip up your favorite chili or bring an appetizer.  And, as always the beverage of your choice.  We’ll also be roasting marshmallows so bring a stick and extra lawn chairs.  The cost is $10.00 per person for those that eat oysters.  Chuck and Judy Klotz 354 River Club Drive 803 -238-7785 or Mike and Patsy Burkhold 103 Old Woodlands Blvd 803-622-7438 will take payment. Deadline to pay for oysters is Saturday, November 11th.  We are also looking for volunteers to help set-up at 5pm.

POKER GAME!!!  Lose a few old presidents & win some new friends.  Low stakes, High fun.  No experience preferred.  Men’s Night is the Third Thursday of every month. Bring your favorite beverage and a snack.

Sunday 11/19 Holiday Market at the Chickawa Outdoor Center 1-5pm
Mark your calendars for the 4th annual SRC Holiday Market!  Please join resident and community vendors from 1:00pm – 5:00pm at the Chickawa Outdoor Center.  Ladies and Children’s clothing, handmade jewelry, homemade goodies, home decor and more and you don’t even have to leave the neighborhood!

Sunday 11/19 & 12/17 Men’s Christmas Book Club at the Village Club 7:30pm
What: 2 Group Discussions of “Hidden Christmas”-a Great book by Tim Keller pointing to some often overlooked aspects of Christ’s Birth that shine a light on The Gospel.  If you haven’t read any of Tim’s writing…you’re missing out.
When: November 19- 7:30PM (Discuss Chapter 1-4)
& December 17- 7:30 PM (chapter 5-8) 2 Sundays
Open to all.-  Invite any interested friends.  Go ahead and purchase a book…about $10-15. Available on Amazon and other outlets (read ahead to be able to discuss).  For each Chapter write down something that you learned, thought was interesting or a question for discussion.  Led by: Daniel Dunbar, but this will be an open discussion.

Come on out and play some football with you neighbors at the annual SRC Turkey Football. Let’s make the community look great for the Holiday Season!  We’ll be giving awards for the Best Holiday Decorating in each District!

Thursday 12/14 Ladies Night/Dirty Santa Holiday Party at the Village Club 7pm
Bring a gift to exchange, Something to treasure,The bigger the laugh, The greater the pleasure!  Please bring a “Dirty Santa” gift (a recycled gift). As they say, “one’s man trash, is another man’s treasure”.  Also, bring Holiday Cookies to share and any leftover we can scatter amongst the group.

Boomers (both singles and couples over 50) meet at the Village Clubhouse the third Friday of each month at 5:30pm.  This month we’ll be celebrating the Holidays.  Wear your Holiday Attire, bring your Favorite Holiday Appetizer to share and the beverage of your choice. We will caravan through the neighborhood on your decorated golf carts, trailers if you are willing to share, and cars. Veterans Day Parade

City of Columbia’s 39th Annual Veterans Day Parade
11:00 AM – 1:00 PM

The City of Columbia will host one of the Southeast’s largest Veterans Day Parade on Friday, November 10.

The 39th Annual Veterans Day Parade will kick off at 11 a.m. from the intersection of Sumter and Laurel streets, and travel southbound on Sumter Street ending at Pendleton Street near the State House.

This year’s grand marshal will be retired Col. Jack Van Loan. Van Loan was a Vietnam War Air Force fighter pilot who was shot down during his 74th combat mission and spent six years as a prisoner of war in North Vietnam before he was released in 1973.

The Veterans Day Parade is sponsored by the City of Columbia, AARP and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of South Carolina.

Robin Hood, the outlaw of Sherwood Forest, leads a merry life with his followers. Anyone who is hungry or has no place to live is welcome in the greenwood. The citizens of the forest oppose wicked Prince John who has taken the place of King Richard the Lion-Hearted while he’s in the Holy Land on a crusade. Robin Hood’s childhood sweetheart, Maid Marian, is ward of King Richard. Alas, the evil Lady Merle of Cornwall plans to force Marian to marry Prince John. It’s up to Robin to stop the marriage, defeat a nasty sheriff and secure Nottingham for the king’s return. All performances will be on the deck at Saluda Shoals Park. Christmas Lights Special

Illumineers of SC has offered SRC bulk discount pricing for custom cut Christmas lights. The color would be a Champagne white (gold shimmery color). They will come out install, custom fit, take down, store and do it again next year! The first year the Christmas lights will cost more because you buy the lights, they will change out the bulbs to make sure they always work. Every year after you will get a discount for already owning the lights.

Here is an example of a Village District home…$5 per foot with 65’ of fascia for a two level home would be $325. Everything below is optional and you can add on every year!

The more people that sign up the more of a discount- up to 5 customers 10% off, over 10, 12.5% discount.

To do four windows $72. 30” wreaths with bows in the windows for $75 per wreath. They will also install a timer that will auto turn on/off every night for $50. All wiring, fasteners and installation is included. $5 per foot with 65’ of fascia for a two level home would be $325.
