Trout Stocking on Saluda River
The S.C. Department of Natural Resources’ Freshwater Fisheries Section stocked about 13,000 brown and rainbow trout in the Lower Saluda River Dec. 13, 2011 using a helicopter and specialized lift bucket. The stocking benefits South Carolina’s $14 million trout fishery.
This year’s trout stocking is a cooperative effort between the S.C. Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and the State Law Enforcement Division with SLED providing the pilots and helicopter for the aerial stocking.
Helicopter stocking allows DNR to better distribute trout up and down the river system and prevents the concentration of fish in any particular area. This will allow the fish more time to acclimate and disperse before anglers begin trying to catch them. The SLED aircraft also allows the DNR to be more selective in the type of habitat where the fish are stocked.

Saluda River Club Achieves Record Sales
The lifestyle and recreational community along the Saluda River has emerged as one of the brightest spots in the South Carolina real estate market. Saluda River Club, a development of locally owned Lifestone Communities, achieved new home sales in excess of $15 million in 2009.
“Despite the recession, we’ve found that you just can’t keep people from their dreams,” said Lifestone/Saluda River Club principal Walter Taylor. Taylor, along with partners Andy White and Bill Theus, decided to stay the course in 2009 - never compromising on quality and continuing to emphasize extraordinary lifestyle and value. Their strategy paid off.

To see a great selection of homes and home sites available visit SaludaRiverClub.com. Remember, you need to close before July1, 2010!
- Q: What has stayed the same in the new law? First-time home buyers still get a credit of as much as 10% of the purchase price, up to a maximum $8,000.
- Q: What has changed? A buyer must have a contract in place before May 1, 2010, and the deal must close before July 1, 2010. No further extension is expected. The price of the house is now capped.
- Q: Is it possible to qualify for a credit if I am building a home on a lot I already own? Yes, according to the National Association of Home Builders. The purchase date is usually considered to be the date of first occupancy, so you would need to move in before July 1, 2010.
