Showcase of Homes Open House Tours
Saluda River Club is excited about the Showcase of Homes Tour starting this weekend. The Open House tours will be Saturday and Sunday, May 5-6 and next weekend, May 12-13. The Showcase of Homes event will feature 6 amazing homes in our community.
The Village District, our urban village with a “town center” feel, will feature four homes during the event:
The Barnwell, a cottage with 2 bedrooms and 2.5 baths is open and inviting with plenty of space for entertaining. It’s master on the main layout and high-level finishings are sure to impress.
The Bowman is a 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath home with classic good looks. Featuring an outdoor living space with a fireplace, this home has amazing qualities that can be customized perfectly for you.
The Petigru, a master on the main, 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath home lends itself to family living. It’s comfy “lifestyle triangle” includes an open feel of the kitchen, dining room and family room.
The last stop in the Village District for the Showcase of Homes Tour is our Townhome. This 2 bedroom, 2.5 bath stylish home is open and modern with handsome features throughout. The master balcony includes a view overlooking the Village Green, and the third floor is the perfect place for a media or hobby room.
The River District, our private enclave of homes along the Saluda River, will feature two beautiful floor plans for the Showcase of Homes:
The Morgan is a traditional 5 bedroom, 4.5 bath master on main home with plenty of high-end standards. This spacious and open home also includes a walkout basement with a patio leading to the backyard.
The Cullowhee is the last Showcase Home of the event. This 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath home is ideal for families looking for an open, inviting layout. From its Southern style front porch, back deck and screened porch, this home is the perfect place to entertain friends or enjoy some quiet time engrossed in the beauty of the River District.

Kemopalooza 2012 Raises Over $40K for Camp Kemo Programs
Kemopalooza 2012 was a huge success! The event, held at Saluda River Club’s Chickawa Outdoor Center on April 19, raised over $40,000 benefitting CAMP KEMO Programs of Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital. Kemopalooza featured food, drinks, music, and silent auction all for a great cause.
The event was kicked off by opening act Don Russo, followed by headliner the Blue Dogs who rocked the house with a blend of country, bluegrass, pop and rock. The food was delicious, provided by Blue Marlin Steaks and Seafood, featuring shrimp and grits, southern caviar (pimento cheese) and much more. With over a carload of items, the silent auction offered guests plenty to bid on during the event.
Saluda River Club was proud to be the location for Kemopalooza 2012 and be able to help support such an amazing cause. CAMP KEMO Programs “is a variety of psychosocial programs that were developed to meet the needs of patients, siblings and parents who face the challenges created by cancer.” CAMP KEMO Programs is fully funded by community donations. Marijo and Garry Bullock share their thoughts on Saluda River Club

Long-time Irmo residents Marijo and Garry Bullock were ready to downsize and they knew exactly what they were looking for – new construction, minimal maintenance and proximity to the water.
“We looked at some places on Lake Murray and we explored Beaufort, but we didn’t see what we wanted in our price range,” says Garry.
A newspaper ad for Saluda River club caught their eye and the rest, as they say, is history.
At the time, 2009, the Saluda River Club cottage collection was in the design stage. For that reason the Bullocks were able to take an active role in the construction of their new cottage.
They worked closely with builder Andy White to customize the master bathroom, create a stone fireplace and make other changes.
Mairjo and Garry had built homes in the past, but at Saluda River Club they discovered just how stressless and satisfying the process could be.
“It’s been a blessing times ten for us – the neighborhood is just fabulous,” says Garry. “We love all the things there are to do, like cooking classes and walks along the river paths. You can do as much or as little as you like.”
The Bullocks are excited about spending time at the pool this summer with their twin year-old grandchildren. They’re also looking forward to welcoming their daughter-in-law’s parents to the neighborhood. After seeing Mairjo and Garry’s lovely home and getting to know the community, the in-laws decided to buy a Saluda River Club cottage of their own!
Patty and Russ Holt share their thoughts on Saluda River Club

Empty nesters Patty and Russ Holt were happy to return to South Carolina in 2006 after several years in Texas. They chose a home on Lake Murray that was convenient to Russ’s work at a nonprofit ministry group.
“We had seen Saluda River Club when we first came back to the area and were very intrigued by it,” says Russ. But a few years after settling in at the lake the Holts realized they were missing something.
“With our kids grown fewer things were bringing us together with other people. We decided we needed to be close to our church in Lexington, but in a place where we would feel a sense of community.”
That place was Saluda River Club. In July 2011 the Holts moved to a lovely four-bedroom home in the Village District. In less than a year they had met more neighbors than in their entire married life!
Russ looks forward to regular gym workouts and poker night with the guys; Patty plays bunko with the ladies.
The community offers so much. The Holts hosted a memorable rehearsal dinner for their son and his fiancée at the Chickawa Lodge and have used the Village clubhouse for a Bible study event.

Wine Glass and Art Class Event a Success
Tuesday night marked the first Saluda River Club “Wine Glass & Art Class” event. Nine ladies took part in the fun of painting wine glasses and canvases while enjoying their favorite wine. Their one-of-a-kind creations were impressive works of art each as individual as their artist.
Hosted by Val Zaba of the Tapp’s Arts Center, the class was held from 7-9 pm at the Chickawa Outdoor Center. The event was such a success that we will be holding another class in June! The next event will be “Art Class, Beer Mugs and Wine Glasses”! Paint yourself a beautiful wine glass and have your husband paint his favorite team logo or monogram on a beer mug. Enjoy experimenting with your painting skills no matter your level of talent!
