organic-planterIt might take another month or so – but spring is headed our way, and right now is the perfect time to start making plans for your spring planting. Many homeowners who live in the beautiful Saluda River Club community, nestled along the Saluda River in a magnificent natural setting, have already put spring bulbs in the ground last fall, and we can expect lots of tulips, daffodils and hyacinths to start peeking through the soil by the beginning of March.

Throughout the year, the grounds of the award-winning master-planned community are landscaped in a pleasing way using suitable trees, drought-resistant groundcover and pops of (annual) color. Our crews keep the public areas of the River, Woodlands and Village Districts well maintained, which in turn inspires the residents to showcase their garden areas.

Organic Planters
In addition to enjoying their own front yards and gardens, and planting lavish pots for their outdoor living areas, residents at Saluda River Club can lease a raised organic garden box near the Village District for just $100 per year. This is a great opportunity for your own ‘salad bar,’ or a perfect spot for young kids to dig in the dirt and see first-hand how things grow.

The raised organic planters are located in an area that gets full sun, under the power lines, so they are especially suited to grow spring and summer vegetables like:

  • Tomatoes
  • Peppers
  • Cucumbers
  • Peas, beans
  • Eggplant
  • Summer squash, and much more.
