Saluda River Club’s Director of Business Development, Kara Powell, is an active member of the community and attends many business events in the area to keep updated. Kara attended the West Metro Chamber of Commerce breakfast meeting on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 where the focus was on coaching a winning team.

University of South Carolina baseball coach, Ray Tanner, was the featured guest speaker at the Chamber meeting. The monthly breakfast event was sponsored by and held at Lexington Medical Center, where coach Tanner spoke about the lessons learned from winning two back-to-back championships.

With the longest active streak in the Southeastern Conference, Coach Tanner’s teams have qualified for thirteen consecutive NCAA postseasons. Over the years, Coach Tanner has realized that by allowing his players to have ownership, it makes it their team and things go more smoothly.

The Coach also joked that the current fall GPA is 2.966, still waiting on a few grades. He does not want to see it come in above 3.0 because his records show championship years didn’t come with a 3.0 GPA! Saluda River Club wishes Coach Tanner and the USC team great success and a continued winning streak this season.
